Hi I’m Helen I’m a holistic therapist, I’m a Mummy and a bereaved parent.
As a holistic therapist I have studied and practiced a number of different aspects including Reiki, Aromatherapy, Crystal Therapy, Meditation and Mindfulness. I came across holistic therapies because I suffered with my own wellbeing as a Mummy to Olivia who was born in 2014.
My story here really starts when I lost Daisy in 2009. She was stillborn at 25 weeks. My relationship broke down, in fact my life changed in ways I couldn’t ever imagine and I was left wondering if I would ever have the chance to be pregnant again.
In 2013 I found out I was pregnant with Olivia. I was already suffering with anxiety, although I had become extremely good at making sure no-one knew. So when I found out I was pregnant it was just a whole new level of anxiety. Like many bereaved parents who find themselves pregnant with a child after loss, I struggled with the support network available. Baby loss support groups no longer felt a comfortable place to be and I didn’t want to access mainstream pregnancy support services.
I felt traumatised by the birth and pregnancy. No one did anything wrong. In fact the care that I was offered was excellent and at times over and above what some families are offered.
